It is one of the smallest procedures in aesthetic surgery: thirty to sixty minutes, usually local anaesthesia or light sedation, and home the same day. Which makes it, paradoxically, one of the easiest procedures to choose wrongly.

Here is the mechanism that should precede any price discussion. A double chin is fullness in the submental region — under the chin — and it has more than one possible cause. • Has the surgeon assessed skin elasticity, platysma tone and chin projection — or only confirmed that you have fat and a credit card?
• Is the person operating a board-certified plastic surgeon (in Europe, look for EBOPRAS; membership in ISAPS/ASPS is verifiable) working in a Ministry of Health–licensed facility?
• What exactly does the package include — anaesthesia type, compression garment, medications, and a named plan for follow-up after you fly home?
