I am pleased to share that I will be co-chairing the upcoming Periorbital Surgery Meeting, organised as part of the %100 Plastik Cerrahi Toplantıları series by FABCAST and Medikoz.

This is a focused, single-day academic event dedicated entirely to the periorbital region — one of the most technically demanding and clinically nuanced areas in plastic surgery. The meeting brings together experienced surgeons to discuss current approaches, complications, and evolving techniques around the eye area.

Event Details

The meeting will take place on April 17, 2026 at Ege University, Faculty of Medicine — Muhittin Erel Amphitheatre in İzmir, Turkey.

Meeting Chairs:

  • Op. Dr. Mert Demirel
  • Op. Dr. Metin Kerem

The programme runs across two afternoon sessions, covering a wide spectrum of periorbital topics — from brow lifting techniques and non-invasive periorbital rejuvenation to periorbital complications management and combined approaches to complex periorbital problems.

What Will Be Discussed

The scientific programme includes presentations on:

  • Transpalpebral brow lifting — a targeted approach to brow repositioning through the eyelid
  • Deep plane and endoscopic brow lifting — addressing the brow at a deeper anatomical layer
  • GBL / Lateral brow lift techniques — focusing on lateral brow descent
  • Post-operative patient care following periorbital surgery
  • Non-invasive periorbital rejuvenation — what can be achieved without surgery
  • Exophthalmos and thyroid ophthalmopathy — a condition that significantly affects the periorbital region
  • Combined approaches to periorbital problems — when multiple issues coexist
  • Periorbital surgical complications and their management — understanding what can go wrong and how to address it

The day concludes with a collaborative “3 Problems, 3 Solutions” panel — a format I find particularly valuable because it reflects how we actually think in clinical practice: problem-first, then solution.

Why This Matters

The periorbital area is where anatomy is most unforgiving. The structures are delicate, the margins are small, and patient expectations are high. A meeting dedicated entirely to this region allows for the kind of depth and focused discussion that broader conferences often cannot provide.

For me, events like this are not just about presenting — they are about exchanging ideas with colleagues, refining approaches, and staying grounded in the collective clinical experience of the field. That is how standards improve.
